Jem Garrard is a Vancouver based writer and director. She has made official music videos for Ringo Starr, Linkin Park, Young Galaxy, and dozens of international artists. Music has played an important role in her filmmaking career. Her first feature documentary, Guns to Mics, was filmed in Sierra Leone and is about the power of music over politics. It will be available in Summer 2017.In 2014, Jem won four Leo awards for the musical documentary TV series, Playground. Her work in music videos led her to episodic TV, and in 2015, she directed the groundbreaking first season of OutTV's sitcom The Switch. Jem went on to direct her first TV feature, A Murderer Upstairs (also known as 'Secrets of My Stepdaughter') for the Lifetime Movie Network.In 2017 she directed four episodes of Disney's action adventure series, Mech X4. Her short film Unit Bryan was picked up by Telus to become their first scripted Original series. The show, Android Employed, will be released in July 2017. Jem wrote and directed the four part comedic science fiction mini-series. Show less «
