The story looks more romantic and wonderful between Raymond and Simon in the streets of Camden City in London. Raymond is the handsome young man who will charm Simon with his character and his actions towards it. It's a unique relationship with Simon, a dedicated single mother. It seems that both will ignite pent-up feelings for a long time.
Crucially, underneath the music and the soft-focus romance Been So Long makes some poignant observations about community, family and the importance of connection.
Cool actors playing cool characters in a Camden that Londoners will actually recognise (grotty, gorgeous, just about keeping gentrification at bay). Who could ask for anything more?
Few things make the heart sink in advance than 'low-budget British musical,' but it's a credit to Krishnan, Walker and the rest of the team that, after a slightly rocky start, I felt fully won over by the end of the film.
