As the junior field agent of the team, McGee is often subjected to ridicule from the likes of DiNozzo and David, and to some extent, Gibbs.McGee's relationship with DiNozzo is almost that of a popular child making fun of a nerd. Although, they often fight with each other, there are several instances where it shows how much they care about each other. They have a very antagonistic relationship, but most view of it as that of brothers.McGee has a younger sister Sarah, who is seen in episodes Red Cell and Twisted Sister . The two seem to differ greatly in personality, but are very close to each other.McGee's father is an Admiral in the U. S. Navy. They have a strained relationship ( Squall S10, E19). McGee's grandmother, Penelope, is seen in the episode The Penelope Papers (S9, E3).McGee had an extended relationship with forensics technician Abby Sciuto when he is first on the show, but this ends amicably sometime between season 1 and 2. The two are still very close and often tease each other about their previous relationship. When in stressful or uncomfortable situations, McGee will retreat to Abby's forensics lab.Using the pen name Thom E. Gemcity (an anagram of Timothy McGee ), he is the author of the 'Deep Six' series of novels, which he insists are not based on people and situations from his experiences at NCIS.
